Artisan Crafts Feature!

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 13, 2008, 9:24 AM

Next in the series of gallery features we'll be browsing the Artisan Crafters. AC is a gallery that's still fairly new to deviantART and not quite as active as some of the other galleries. So be sure to check out these amazing deviations from the depths of AC.

They're teddy bears! In chainmaille! How cute is that? After meeting and talking to ~LadyLockeout, chainmaille is something I definitely want to try. And this piece is only one of many great ones in her gallery. I love the contrast of the soft fluffy teddy bears, with the chain armor. Definitely uber-cute.

When I first saw Daydream I was amazed by the webbing. Dreamcatchers usually have a certain methodical weave to them, but this one brings something completely different to the table. The feathers were perfectly chosen to match the fur, but not so long as to distract the viewer from the main focal point. A wonderful gift indeed!

A marvelous piece of glass work. An ergonomic handle coupled with a long spiraling shaft would make this piece a welcome addition in almost any decor.

When I first saw this I had no idea the work that must have gone into it. But looking at the crisp lines and order involved I can imagine it must have quite a challenge! Surely a beautiful addition to any
bedroom.

In all my years of collecting stones, I've never seen a quartz point quite like this one. Beautifully laid silver leaves perfectly accent the natural garnet/quartz combination. The black onyx and Hessonite
beads add a wonderful neutral complementarity.

Cultures collide in Celtic Tree of Life Tapestry. Peyote stitching was/is done by Native Americans and the Tree of Life is a very celtic symbol. The depth, colours and shadig in this tapestry are truly
amazing. 80 hours worth of work well worth it!

In a gallery full of chokers and other jewelry it was tough to pick one above the others to feature. But the tedious stitching lace and beadwork made this one stand above the rest.

A necklace to make the geekiest of us happy. This circuit pendant is a wonderful combination of science and art, natural and synthetic, and angles and curves. A wonderful piece sure to bring joy to the wearer and envy from geek they meet.

Make sure you answer my poll to suggest your favourite traditional pieces! That gallery is coming up next week.

As an aside, I have several projects in the works, a digital mixed media, a cross stitch (I might finish that in a year and a half), two quilts (might finish those in 3 years), two tunics (need to finish
those in a year), and a necklace size dreamcatcher that I just need to shape the feathers for and add a hanger. Also have an idea for a dreamcatcher, but I need 8 faux eagle feathers first, and they can be expensive. But even the cheap ones I shouldn't get, not until I either get a job or start grad school, whichever I decide, it's sounding like grad school though.

P.S. I'm studying vocab for the GRE, I've never heard of about 90% of those words.

A very special "Thank you!" for my subscription from =IBinsanity.
And to ¢mynti for designing and coding my CSS.
